But I gotta be honest with you, there's nothing better than that whole week you get to spend working on it. It's exciting! I'm not kidding, either.
You find, when it's your job to study God's word in the Bible how much God has to say to us in that book. It is intimidating when you first pick it up. I mean, where do you start? What does it mean? How does it all tie together? And maybe most importantly, how in the world does it apply to me?
These are good questions, but the answer lies in the word. The Bible is not a list of what you should not do. It is not a place to make people feel manipulated or guilty. Rather, it's a collection of stories that tell us how God has worked in average people like you and me throughout history to save his people and have a relationship with them.
Kinda cool, huh?
The Bible tells us that "the word of God is living and active, separating bone and marrow." (My apologies, I can't think of where. I'll look it up in a minute)
And that's cool too. It it is living words. It speaks to our spirits and touches us deeply.
Don't be intimidated by it's size or the language you
hear in church. The Bible was made to be understood.
It is meant to be read and loved. It's where we learn
to love God.
