Jag’s Jargon and other weird Stuff

Welcome new 6th Graders, to UMYF! We are glad you will be part of our exciting ministry. And for all returning and other new youth, who aren’t 6th graders welcome to you also. It has been a busy summer, I can’t remember ever traveling this much with a bunch of youth. We have seen many parts of Missouri including some parts way off the road, and also a whole bunch of little towns while driving.

Well, the school year is starting back up with a new and exciting chapter in the life of our Youth Fellowship. Be sure you are at the August 6th meeting to hear a taste of what you can be part of. I plan on seeing you there.

~Jag

Simple Things by Susan McKim I was always told that sometimes the littlest things you do in life have the biggest impact on individuals. Recently, I just found this to be true.Upon completion of commencement in May, I received a card from an acquaintance at school. I opened the card and read the note and tears came to my eyes. The note that I had received thanked me for all my smiles and cheerful "hellos." The note concluded by thanking me and telling me she learned a lesson from me. What the lesson is, I don’t know, but I know I learned a very important lesson. I learned that little things really do make a difference in others lives. The letter I received is proof for me and you. So step out of your comfort zone and speak to a stranger or even the "lone ranger" that sits by himself in Calculus class! After all, the least you could do is show someone you care.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, Please open my eyes and expand my horizon, so that I may display your unconditional love to others.

Middle School Destination Adventure Trip ~ Keele McLaurin

After we left the church, the main thing that I remember is that every 10 minutes we would ask if we were there yet. Also, Scott and Stacy Jag made us #1 fans of the Newsboys ( making us listen to it the whole time ). I also remember when Barbara went in her bag to get her brush. Her razor cut a hole in her shampoo bottle, so she spent the rest of the way there cleaning all of her bathroom accessories off. After 2 hours of the van ride there, we stopped at McDonald’s for drinks and breakfast. While we were there, we made complete fools of ourselves by playing on a tiny play ground with swings and stuff. We were screaming like wild buffoons! We got to the ropes course and did low ropes on the first day. We had to walk across a gigantic pizza on toothpicks! I have a reputation for the person who can hold their breath the longest, the snort Queen ( snorting game ), and the Toilet Queen ( toilet freeze tag ). That’s me!!! I remember that Brittany spilled suntan lotion all over her seat because she sat on it and from moving around she unscrewed the top! Ha Ha! Also, at the pool Kitty got a tick, or discovered a tick on her ankle. The second day we did the high ropes. I remember when it was my turn, I would go up there and stay glued to the Staples and the log for at least 15 minutes. I was extremely scared! Scott and Stacy were the only ones to get hold of the power jump. I would have to say that the zip line was the most fun. Then when we went rafting, the teams were Scott, Elise, Kitty, and Barbara. Then Stacy, Rachel, Brittany, and me. We all had a GREAT time and are looking forward to the next trip.

Church Softball Team By Matt Weilbacher
Undefeated, the best in the Leavenworth, and coming to u every Thursday night at 7:00, who am I talking about, I am talking about the First United Methodist Church Softball Team.. Yes the softball team that represents you through sport, and does it very well I might add. Participants on the team are young and old, but act like they are all teenagers, with the spirit and willingness to praise god through sport. Coached by many individuals, they have led our team to an undefeated season, and has drawn everyone, I am sure closerto god. The team has two more games left, they are on July 27, and August 10th, come out and support your church softball team.

Reach 2000

August 18-20 we are going to be throwing a huge party in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. It will include concerts, speakers, video, and a whole lot more. Reach 2000 is an outreach to the youth in the Leavenworth area, telling them about the love of Jesus Christ. In order for Reach 2000 to be successful it demands that we each bring our friends and neighbors, even if they are not youth. It is an awesome witnessing tool. Some common questions you might need to answer for some one:

_ What is the Cost?

None, it is already paid for

_ Who is Playing?

Frontline, Rhythm, Maybe Tomorrow, Anteye Luci, & The Chosen Ones

_ Where is it at?

_ Why should I go?

_ Who is invited to Come?

Anyone and Everyone who wants to

If you have any other questions that I can answer for you please call or e-mail me.

Jesus the Same Today, Yesterday, and Forever

Institute 2000, Baker University

That was the theme for Institute 2000. What a great adventure we had again. Three days before I was supposed to be at Institute I got a call from the coordinators. They asked me if I was would be willing to be a youth care group leader. I didn’t know what to say. I thought it would be fun to do but I knew that in previous years care groups had always been fun but I was always quiet. I knew that this role would require me to do some talking and I wasn’t sure if I was up to that. I did agree. When I arrived on Sunday night I met my adult care group leader that I would be working with all week. Her name was Kim. She was an awesome lady. From the beginning we got along great. Kim and I had a great week. We were blessed to have a wonderful care group. Throughout the week I learned lots about myself, Jesus, and the other campers. If you have not had the experience of going to Institute I encourage you to attend next year. I want to leave you with a thought to think about ... Jesus is the Same, Today, Yesterday, and Forever!!
