Conference Council on Youth Ministries --- 1999 Annual Conference Report

PURPOSE:
The Conference Council on Youth Ministries exists as a way for youth to minister to other youth of the Louisiana Annual Conference in order to inspire in them a love and understanding for Jesus Christ.

WE CONFESS:
 • That we are young leaders in The United Methodist Church.
 • That we are not worthy to be called children of God.
 • That though we try to be good, we sometimes fall prey to the temptations that our world offers.
 • The need for guidance, prayers, and forgiveness from others as well as our Creator.

WE CELEBRATE:
 • The community of faithful youth leaders that we have built up around our Conference.
 • Carolyn Dove, for we realize that sometimes even leaders need a leader.
 • The election of Jared Williams, Katrina Spottsville, Rachel Nederveid, and Carolyn Dove to the National Youth Ministries Organization (NYMO).
 • An average attendance of 411 youth over four events, and an average YSF collection of $882.23.
 • An awesome YSF commitee who is committed to helping as many people as they possibly can.
 • The continued use of our wonderful Conference Center.
 • That we are overflowing at tevery event, and that the numbers continue to grow.
 • The LA Happening that continues to have a hugely positive impact on the lives of youth.  We're up to #14!!!
 • A conference that supports and listens to its youth, which only encourages more participation and excitement from us.

ITEMS FOR ACTION:
 • We pray that the attendance and YSF money raised continue to grow.
 • We pray that not only our attendance books and YSF pocketbooks grow, but that our hearts are nourished as well.
 • We ask God to be with our youth workers, who impact our lives SO greatly.
 • We will continue to use our Conference Center, but it would really rock if there could be more lodging.
 • We ask God to look over and guide the new Executive Committee.  Without Your help, the CCYM could not be the effective body that we are.
 • We can't wait for the next year to be bigger, more fun, more loving, and more filled with God's presence than ever before.

Thank you, CCYM, God, Mom, Carolyn.  I cannot tell y'all how much this year on CCYM has meant to me.  I cannot imagine what my life would have been like without this group of magnificent people!  Everyone was so uplifting at the events, especially Fall Convo (I was so nervous!)  But, I knew I could get through it with your prayers.  I have realized that my friends on CCYM will be there for me even when my friends at home are not.  I received an e-mail that says, "A simple friend may find out something about you that might scare him away.  A true friend knows EVERYTHING about you and loves you anyway."  That's what CCYM has meant to me.  I will pray for all of you next year.  Keep up the awesome work, and remember that God is ALWAYS there for you.  Don't forget to feel the heat and light the way.
 In Christ,
Rebecca Jane Eskew, President
